Posted by: Mr. Babatunde« on: June 12, 2017, 11:00:22 AM »The All Progressive Congress(APC) primary earlier slated for Monday June 12, to pick a candidate for the vacant senatorial district in Osun West has been postponed till Tuesday, June 13. The postponement became necessary following appeal by a commissioner in the state, Sen. Mudashir Hussein, who is one of the two aspirants scrambling to clinch the ticket but was disqualified by a 5-man screening panel on Sunday. Husein’s disqualification was predicated on the APC’s guidelines and electoral law, which stipulate that individual in the public service employment must, as a matter of importance resign or withdraw his/her appointment 30days to the day of election. Husein, however approached a 3-man appeal panel headed by the former deputy governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Abdullahi Bello, to seek for redress, as he claimed to have resigned on June 6. Announcing the postponement on a social media platform in the early hours of Monday, the Commissioner for Information and strategy in Osun, Lani Baderinwa explained that further information on the process of the primary and proceedings of the appeal panel would be communicated to the public. “The APC appeal panel has postponed the West Senate primary to Tuesday, June 13,2017 as against earlier scheduled Monday, June 12, 2017. Further information shall be made available soon,” Baderinwa resorted.
