Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has emerged winner of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election.
The Waziri Adamawa received 1,532 votes in the exercise which held in Port Harcourt, Rivers state from Saturday to Sunday.
Announcing the results, the chairman of the convention and governor of Delta state, Ifeanyi Okowa said Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, scored 693 votes to emerge second while Bukola Saraki, Nigeria’s Senate President scored 317 votes to come third.
We reports that 3,274 accredited delegates participated in the presidential primary with one hundred and six delegates from Abia State leading the voting, followed by Adamawa State delegates.
The former Vice President defeated twelve other candidates to pick the opposition party’s Presidential ticket for 2019 Presidential election.
Abubakar will contest against President Muhammadu Buhari and other candidates come 2019.
