Osun LG Poll: Free, Fair And Credible Election Will Be Conducted In Osun - OSSIEC Chairman Says

The Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) is the guest of honor at the Osun Online Publishers Association's (OOPA) 5th Media Parley on Monday (2nd of Sep).

Guests at the Osun Online Publishers Association's 5th Media Parley on Monday at the Insight Media Office in Osogbo included Barrister Hashim Abioye, Chairman of the Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSEIC).

Barr. Abioye said, OSSIEC is assuring the stakeholders in Osun State of their determination to conduct free, fair, and credible elections in February 2025," in response to questions from the media regarding his office's plans for the LG Elections scheduled for February 2025.

As stated by OSSIEC Chairman Abioye, "OSSIEC has changed over the years from the past. No one is meddling in any way with our work, nor has anyone messed with our protocol."

In addition,  So far so good, we have not had any challenges. No IT instrument and IT facilities when we came on board , as it is today at OSSIEC,  most of our programmes will be on IT through our social media handles.

Barr Abioye claims that he and his team are committed to overseeing the best local government elections in the state because they have collaborated with all stakeholders to develop transparent procedures that the state can be proud of.

As far as the forthcoming local government election is concerned we are urging all stakeholders, particularly electorates, to collaborate with the commission; we will produce an election process that the state can be proud of at any time, he added.

We began with the inauguration of the Electoral Officers, Certain Committee, and the calibre of people we have brought on board, and will continue to bring on board, demonstrates that the process is absolutely going in the good direction.

Recall, Osun State Independent Electoral Commission (OSSIEC) has previously inaugurated Verification Committee ahead of the February, 2025 local government election.

This is coming after the political parties in the state have concluded their respective primary election for the forthcoming local government election.

The verification committee is saddled with the verification of documents and credentials submitted by the nominated candidates for the 2025 Local Government Election in Osun State.

In his remark, OSSIEC Chairman, Barr. Ashim Abioye, reaffirmed the commission's readiness to conduct free, fair, credible and acceptable election in the state.
