The officials have been reportedly warned to stay away from the governorship election scheduled for Saturday. The threat reads: ‘AD-HOC INEC WORKERS/NYSC MEMBERS, YOU ARE DEAD IF YOU STEP POLLING BOOTHS. LAST WARNING!’ Copies of the threat were posted in strategic places around the INEC office and NYSC orientation camp, warning the officials to stay away or face death. Although, no one or group has laid claim to the threat, tension is mounting as the day of the election nears. The state Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Femi Joseph, was yet to respond to a text message sent to him by DAILY POST as at press time. Recall that the Director-General of NYSC, Brig Gen. Sule Zakari Kazaure had admonished members billed to serve as ad-hoc staff in the election to avoid being partisan in the course of discharging their duty and avoid all forms of material gifts from politicians. However, Police Inspector General, Ibrahim Idris has authorized the deployment of additional 26,000 police officers for the election. He said that each polling unit will be manned by five police officers apart from other officers from other security agencies. Idris added that Ondo command will restirct movement as from midnight of November 25.
