A Presidential aspirant and third place winner in the 2019 presidential election, Dr Nicolas Felix, has described President Muhammadu Buhari as undemocratic.
The presidential hopeful made the remark on Wednesday while making his remark on the withholding of presidential assent to the 2021 Electoral Act Amendment Bill.
Dr Felix had during an interview on TVC News at 7pm, commended the lawmakers for coming out strong on the issues of direct primaries as mode electing party candidates.
However, he condemned president Buhari's refusal to sign the bill, describing it as an "undemocratic act."
In his words, " Let me start by commending the lawmakers for this giant stride. Initially, there was this confusion between direct and indirect mode of primaries, but the lawmakers came out strong and clear. They voted for direct primaries. That's commendable.
"It is however unfortunate that the president refused to sign this document because he is not democratic. If he is a democrat, he would have signed the bill," Dr Felix said.
Speaking on whether the lawmakers can override the President, Dr Felix said he is confident the lawmakers will override the President on this matter because that is what Nigerians want.
The presidential hopeful categorically stated that the president failed to sign the bill because of the electronic transmission and verification of result. He said the ruling APC has failed Nigerians and cannot be voted into power again.
He called on the lawmakers to remain steadfast and resolute in ensuring that the bill becomes a law.
Dr Nicolas Felix said there are many provisions in the bill that will help improve the electoral process in Nigeria if allowed to become law.
