The Otun Balogun of Ibadanland, High Chief (Dr) Femi Olaifa is reportedly dead.

Olaifa, according to a source who pleaded not to be named while confirming the ‎story to DailyPost Friday morning, was said to have passed on at the University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, Thursday evening.

Dr. Olaifa, a Veterinary Doctor by profession was an Adviser to former President, Shehu Sagari, during the Second Republic and was thereafter appointed as a Minister but without portfolio.
However, when contacted to speak on the matter, a close aide to the Olubadan of Ibadanland said he will not disclose whether the High Chief is dead or alive. He said that the family of the deceased has not informed the palace about the development.

He, thereafter, directed journalists to the family house of the High Chief at Idi-Aro area of the ancient city, saying “it is the family that will inform the Olubadan at the palace.”

When contacted, the Public Relations Officer of UCH, Femi Bobade, said he is not aware of the news.

Bobade, however, clarified that he is not authorized to break such news to journalists.

He said that even if the story was true, he will not disclose, stating that only the family of the High Chief has the right to issue such statement.

But another close source at the Popoyemoja Palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji told DailyPost that Chief Olaifa has indeed passed away.

The source who pleaded anonymity confirmed to DailyPost that though palace is yet to officially receive the news, the Otun Balogun is dead.

Yes he is dead, but the palace has not been informed. It is after the palace has been officially informed that such news will be officially broken,” the source said.
