Senator Dino Melaye dismisses an alleged audio recording he had with Justice (Mrs) Ikpeme as fake. In the alleged recording, a female voice is overheard asking the male to give her a bribe in US dollars. Melaye accuses Sahara Reporters and one Awada Kerikeri of doctoring his voice because of a court case he has against them which comes up on the June 5.

Senator Dino Melaye has claimed that an audio tape published by Sahara Reporter in which he was allegedly recorded agreeing to give out a bribe in US dollars to a tribunal judge, was doctored.

In the said conversation, the female voice is overheard asking the male to give her a bribe in US dollars. She allegedly also asks Melaye to assist a person Dino referred to as her "daughter" secure a job at the Cross Rivers State Ministry of Health.

However, the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district in a tweet on Tuesday, May 30, alleged that Sahara Reporters and one Awada Kerikeri used voice over to malign him. He accused the newspaper and Kerikeri of doctoring his voice because of a court case he has against them which comes up on the June 5.

This is not the first time Sahara Reporters will reporting on scandals associated with Senator Melaye. The newspaper in time past reported that the Senator never graduated from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (ABU) as he claimed.

But after much clamour over the issue, the ABU authorities certified Melaye as a graduate of the institution. Meanwhile, the Senate, on Tuesday May 30 ordered the Federal Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to halt further action or planned concession of the Port Harcourt Refinery to AGIP and OANDO.

The Sun reports that in a motion sponsored by Senator Sabo Mohammed and tagged ‘Non Transparent Transaction relating to the planned concession of the Port Harcourt Refinery to AGIP and OANDO by the Ministry of Petroleum Resources, the Senate questioned the rationale behind the action.

NAIJ gathered that the Senate had set up an ad-hoc committee to carry a holistic investigation to determine how and why such a deal was sealed and the criteria used to select AGIP and OANDO to maintain and operate the Port Hacourt Refinery at what cost and time-frame.
