The stability of the nation rests on the gallantry, patriotism and sacrifice of the security and military services, Ademola Adeleke.

The executive Governor of Osun State made this known today at the Launching of Emblem for the year 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day in Osogbo.

"We are gathered here as in other capitals across the country to place our debt of gratitude on records to our fallen heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice.

The stability of the nation rests on the gallantry, patriotism and sacrifice of the security and military services. Service personnel of the armed forces in particular are in many volatile sectors of the society confronting and curtailing open and subtle threats to the territorial integrity of the country. That we must live, many offered their precious lives. We must therefore continue to acknowledge the contributions of the armed forces to the survival of the nation."

Reassuring the military service of the commitment of his government to expand the present level of partnership, the Governor said his administration has a security sector reform which places welfare of service personnel at the centre stage.

The governor then launched the appeal fund for the 2023 Emblem for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day with a sum of Five Million Naira.

Chairman Nigeria Legion Osun State, Comrade Oladipo Abidoye Peter in his own address thank God for making them to witness 2023 Armed forces Remembrance Day celebration and fund raising appeal week.

He used the opportunity to inform the Governor of their long standing requests which are as follows;

1. Approval of monthly subvention to state headquarters and area offices of Nigeria Legion in the state

2. Issuance of mandatory letter of support and full participation by local Government and LCDA's in the state during the event of annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration and as at when necessary

3. Provision of official vehicles to the State Headquarters to ease logistics movement to National seminars, Retreat, Meetings and also to inter-state and State assignments.

He further noted that "the aforementioned requests are being enjoyed their counterparts in the South-West states for long and we are always at the mercy of Oyo state in particular while traveling to National calls

In light of the above, we pray that these our requests be one of the new year packages Osun State Nigerian Legion. "We know you can and that you will do them for us"
