The Peoples Democratic Party has urged residents of Osun
State to cooperate with Governor Rauf Aregbesola by paying
lawful taxes to the government to ensure development of the
state.
The leadership of the PDP in Osun Central Senatorial District,
said this in a communique made available to our correspondent
in Osogbo after the senatorial meeting of the party.
The Chairman of PDP in Osun Central Senatorial District, Mr.
Bunmi Jenyo, who read the communique to journalists,
however, warned the state government against introducing
what he called butchery taxes.
He stated that the state government had no justification to
introduce new taxes because the governor had not taken care of
the welfare of the people of the state and should not bother them
with unjustifiable taxes.
The communique read, “People of this state should henceforth
cooperate with Governor Aregbesola on payment of lawful
taxes.
“The governor of Osun State should be more honest and
dedicated to the service of Osun than his personal one.”
The opposition party said things were not going on well in the
state and every stakeholder in the state must come together
irrespective of party affiliations.
A leader of the party, Senator Olu Alabi, said the All
Progressives Congress administration in the state ought not to
have demolished houses when they did not intend to construct
roads they promised.
He said, “Let us prioritise these things. Why demolishing
houses when they did not have the intention of constructing
any road.
“Anybody who moves round Osogbo will think the town just
survived a civil war. The houses, especially those along the
road, look like those in war ravaged towns.”
