Prof. Abdulganiy Olayinka Raji, the Osun State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), has revealed that barely a month and few days to the Osun State governorship election, not less than 600,000 Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) are still with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the state.

Raji who made this known in Osogbo on Monday during a sensitisation forum for community leaders therefore called on eligible residents of the state whose PVCs are still the commission to visit the INEC office in their local governments of residence to collect them.

According to the REC, the INEC Osun office had received a total number of 333,000 new PVCs from the Continuous Voters Registration (CVR), which have not been collected, while a total number of 370,000 PVCs from the 2019 general elections have still not been collected in the state.

Meanwhile, Raji explained that 15 political parties would be participating in the election while three political parties were barred from fielding candidates for the election because they did not meet up with the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022.

While calling on community, traditional and religious leaders to mobilize their people for the election, he also disclosed that INEC completed 12 out of the 14 steps for the conduct of the election.
