Posted by: Miss Ifeoluwa« on: May 06, 2021, 09:57:50 AM »ASUP STRIKE UPDATE / MAY 5TH 2021 ASUP GIVES UPDATE ON RESUMPTION OF ACADEMIC ACTIVITIES, SAYS FG YET TO DISBURSE DESPITE ACCEPTING 15BN OFFER The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics(ASUP) has vowed to continue its ongoing nationwide strike till the Federal Government meets their demands. The National President of ASUP, Dr Anderson Ezeibe, made this known in the statement released on their official Twitter handle on Wednesday 5th May 2021 as monitored by Poly TV. Ezeibe inisted that the federal government must do the needful before any announcement is made on the reopening of polytechnics. Part of the statement read: “While we await practical demonstration of these resolutions, the ongoing strike CONTINUES as NEC resolved. We shall continue to pray for God to reward us in this struggle even as we plead for the understanding and diligence of members in the struggle. God bless us. “On Wednesday, 28/4/2021 we met with the new ES of NBTE in Kaduna as he assumed office same day. He was brought abreast with our on going struggle and the expected roles from NBTE as contained in the resolutions. He assured he will follow up on the developments. “We equally had a meeting in the House of Representatives in furtherance of the bill for the National Commission for Polytechnics. We expect the second reading by Thursday, 29/4/2021 or latest Tuesday next week.” In conclusion, Strike continues till further notice. This is the update released by ASUP yesterday.
