National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS)

SEAL OF THE PRESIDENT.
03/06/2021.

Update On ASUP Strike.

Press Statement.
For Immediate Release.

Combatant Greetings.
The leadership of the second largest students movement in Africa which is the umbrella body for all institutions awarding ND/HND cut across the six (6) geo-political zones of the federation popularly known as NAPS deem it pertinent to update the entire Polytechnic students with the outcome of the ASUP NEC meeting held on Wednesday 2nd June 2021 in Abuja.

The National President of NAPS Activist Sunday A. Asuku had earlier reached out to the leadership of ASUP on Monday via phone call pleading to be in attendance of the NEC meeting, which the ASUP National President Comr. Anderson Ezeibe made it clear that it is wrong to allow an external be part of the NEC Emergency Meeting however, he gave an option of coming around so to know the outcome of the NEC and possibly meet with the available NEC members.

The National President of NAPS Activist Sunday A. Asuku quickly made his way to the FCT in order to meet up as agreed.

At the NEC meeting, the President conveyed the message from FG to the house, the FG had appealed to ASUP to go back to class while assuring them that all agreement would be reached as soon as possible, the NEC members are to take back the message to their various constituencies, call on congress and report back to NEC between today and next week Tuesday, the next decision (suspend or continue) will then be as a result of congresses held at various institutions.

While giving both ASUP & FG another grace, we enjoin all students to fall back to their various institutions and ensure they meet with ASUP during the congress to as well appeal to them to give FG another benefit of doubt by giving the grace of a particular time for FG to meet up with the agreement while they go back to class. These will by the grace of God help us get a positive result next week at ASUP NEC meeting in Abuja.

The leadership of NAPS equally seizes this medium to advise the FG to make hays while the sun shines by ensuring the agreements reached with ASUP are met particularly the NEEDS Accessment and the Minimum Wage Arrears or risk another round of Civil disobedience should they fail to properly manage this cold war.

The leadership of NAPS extend her warm appreciation to all SUG Presidents, Students and stakeholders for their maximum Cooperation and resilience, while we await report of ASUP congresses from various institutions, be rest assured of our highest level of commitment to this course.
Aluta Continua, Victoria Acerta!

Signed,
Activist Sunday A. Asuku GCNPS,
National President (NAPS)
