EPL: Aston Villa vs Man Utd: Team news, lineup, all you need to know about high-stakes clash

As the 2023/24 Premier League season heats up, all eyes turn to Villa Park where Aston Villa will host Manchester United in what promises to be an exhilarating encounter on Sunday evening.

Aston Villa head to the game after beating Sheffield United 5-0 in their last game, while Man United won 3-0 against West Ham United.

Unai Emery’s men currently sit in 4th position with eight points ahead of Man United who occupy the 6th position after 23 games.


However, the Red Devils have won their last two games against Aston Villa, winning 3-2 and 1-0, respectively.

Aston Villa’s team news

The host team will have Morgan Rogers back at their disposal after the winger was ineligible for the FA Cup defeat to Chelsea, where Nicolo Zaniolo and Pau Torres were also given the green light to make the match-day squad after shaking off injuries.

Unfortunately, Ezri Konsa will miss between three and four weeks of action with a knee problem.

The likes of Tyrone Mings and Emiliano Buendia are out due to long-term injury

Man United’s team news

Man United’s centre-back Lisandro Martinez came off on the 71-minute mark with a knee injury against West Ham. He will now miss for at least eight weeks.

Erik ten Hag’s side will be without Anthony Martial (groin injury), Tyrell Malacia (knee injury) and Mason Mount (calf injury) against Aston Villa.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka exited Thursday’s training session with an unspecified problem and will miss the Aston Villa clash.

Raphael Varane is expected to feature in the Red Devils defence following Martinez’s injury.

Aston Villa probable starting XI:

Martinez, Cash, Torres, Lenglet, Moreno, Luiz, Kamara, Diaby, Tielemans, Watkins and McGinn.

Manchester United probable starting XI

Onana, Dalot, Maguire, Varane, Shaw, Mainoo, Casemiro, Garnacho, Fernandes, Hojlund and Rashford.

The kick-off time for Aston Villa vs Man United is 5.30 pm.
