Ileogbo United Football Club has boldly announced its readiness to compete in the forthcoming New Year Mega Lottery Nationwide League One (NLO) campaign, marking its entry into Nigeria’s prestigious third-tier professional league.
The unveiling ceremony took place at the Lanre Leke Sports Academy Multipurpose Hall, drawing a significant crowd of distinguished guests, including His Royal Highness, Kabiyesi Olu Ile Ogbo, Oba Habeeb Adetoyese; the Olu of Alaya, Adetoyese Taiwo; Justice Jide Falola, who chaired the occasion; Retired General Tayo Nafiu; Head Coach and former Super Eagles player, Mutiu Adepoju; Club President, Professor Komolafe; Engr. Babajare; Hon. Adesoye, the Council Chairman; Otunba Segun Dada; the Chief Imam of Ileogbo; and the CAN Chairman.
The event showcased the club’s new logo and jersey, alongside the introduction of the players, coaching staff, and technical crew, solidifying its new identity.
Project Manager Engr. Olalekan Adeleke, also the General Manager of the club, declared the event a landmark achievement. “We are thrilled to unveil our new identity and embark on our NLO journey,” he asserted. “This is a decisive moment for Ileogbo United FC, and we invite fans, sponsors, and the media to engage with us as we venture into this exciting new chapter.”
He specifically acknowledged the foundational work of Engr. Lanre Adeleke, the visionary behind both the Lanre Leke Sports Academy and Ileogbo United FC, for his unwavering commitment to grassroots development and the progress of the Ile-Ogbo community.
During the ceremony, Engr. Olalekan Adeleke presented the club’s 9-Point Value Statement, which underscores their commitment to building a sustainable, community-focused football ecosystem. The values emphasize homegrown roots aiming at global aspirations, talent development, partnerships, community pride, and structured football pathways.
The mission and vision statements articulated by the club reflect its ambition to serve as a platform for nurturing local talent, fostering community pride, and establishing a globally recognized football brand that remains deeply rooted in Ileogbo’s rich heritage and values.
Super Eagles legend and club Head Coach, Mutiu Adepoju expressed his admiration for Engr. Lanre Adeleke’s relentless efforts in youth and football development. He assured that the technical team will work tirelessly to secure promotion to the Nigeria National League (NNL). “The foundation we have here is robust,” Adepoju stated confidently. “With the right support and discipline, we will elevate Ileogbo United to monumental heights.”
Additionally, the Royal Father of the event, Kabiyesi of Ile-Ogbo, Oba Habeeb Adetoyese, commended the club’s founder for his pivotal role in advancing the town’s development. He offered prayers for the club’s success and expressed optimism that it would soon be celebrated worldwide.
As the countdown to their inaugural NLO campaign commences, Ileogbo United FC is resolute in its pursuit of becoming a powerhouse in Nigerian football. They will face ASE Ridyem FC, Osogbo, in their first NLO match on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at the Lanre Leke Sports Complex in Ile Ogbo, Osun State.
