The Imo State government may have bowed to
pressure from the organized labour as it announced
the recall of workers earlier suspended in 19 parastatals, departments and agencies.
The state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha announced the recall of the workers on Wednesday
in the heat of a protest by members of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC.
All activities at the Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri and
other government offices under the NLC were shutdown to effect the compliance of the protest.
NLC members from the 36 states of the federation
led by the National President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba on Wednesday converged on Owerri, the state capital, to hold a protest against the Concession Policy of the state government and force the state to reverse the suspension of the affected workers.
But consequent upon a meeting held between the State government and the State Executive of the NLC at the office of the Secretary to the Imo State Government, it was agreed that the suspension of the workers would be reversed.
