Author Topic: Boko Haram: Police flag off ‘Change Campaign’ in Borno  (Read 398 times)

Borno state Police Commissioner, Damian Chukwu, has expressed gratitude to members of the Civilian JTF in Borno state for their collaboration and cooperation through timely and useful information which has assisted the police in averting attacks by members of the dreaded Islamic sect, Boko Haram in the state.

Mr. Damian, who flagged off the ‘Change Begin With Me’ campaign in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital, Thursday, by distributing flyers at the popular post office area of Maiduguri, said, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, flagged off the campaign and distribution of Public Complaint Rapid Response Unit (PCRRU) flyers on Monday, 21st November, 2016 at Wuse District Market, Abuja.

He added that the flag off campaign in Maiduguri was a testimony of the readiness of the command to key into the programme by ensuring change takes effect in the state.


The Commissioner said, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris on his assumption of office promised Nigerians that the Nigeria Police Force under his leadership will be repositioned to be more accountable, responsive, reliable and professional in the discharge of its statutory responsibilities in line with the international best practices.

He said that in fulfillment of the mandate, and in tandem with the presidential, “Change Begins with Me” campaign, the Nigerian police is taking the lead and calling on every citizen, who believe in the change agenda to key in the change programme.

Also speaking during the occasion, the Borno State governor, Kashim Shettima, who was represented by the Commissioner for Information, Alhaji Mohammed Bulama commended the Nigeria Police Force for flagging off, the Change campaign in Borno state.

He stated that, the example given by the Nigeria Police is worthy of emulation, urging the people to take steps towards aligning themselves with the change mantra.


He expressed the gratitude of the people and government of Borno state to all security agencies in the state, particularly members of the civilian JTF, who remain patriotic in ensuring that peace returns to the state.

While commending the gallant and heroic efforts of the civilian JTF in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency, he said, ”the government and people of Borno state will ever remain grateful to these young men who dare to sacrifice their lives for the peace of the state.”
