The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Lagos State Command, says it has deployed 6,500 operatives to secure various public places in the state during the Eid-el-Kabir.
The command stated that officers on leave had been recalled to ensure proper security of lives and property during the celebration.
In a statement on Sunday, the state NSCDC Commandant, Tajudeen Balogun, added that men of the corps had been deployed to protect infrastructure across the state.
He said, “Officers have been strategically deployed to man infrastructure, pipeline right of ways, vandal-prone areas, government houses, event centres, places of worship, motor parks, junctions and flashpoint areas.”
Balogun enjoined residents not to entertain fear during the celebration and to report suspicious movements to security agencies.
“Necessary security measures have been put in place by the NSCDC and we are working with other security agencies to make sure that people celebrate without any fear of attack.
“However, we need the cooperation of members of the public on intelligence gathering. We, therefore, urge residents to report suspicious movements and activities to the corps and other security agencies,” he added
