Female Suicide Bomber Attacks Borno Again
on: October 25, 2015, 07:19:04 PM

The trend of female suicide attack on communities seems to be on ascendancy as a female suicide bomber reportedly blew herself up in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on Saturday.

Vanguard reports that three people were confirmed dead and several others injured during the attack in Dala Yazaram, barely 24hours after about 55 people were killed in attacks in the same northeastern region.

The Islamist sect, Boko Haram is being linked with the recent bombing although the group is yet to officially claim responsibility.

Shuaibu Umara, a security guard at a nearby petrol station, told AFP that “three people have been killed and many injured. One of the terrorists was arrested before she could detonate.”

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), in a rather conflicting account of the incident, said one person, a member of a civilian vigilante group assisting the military in the fight against Boko Haram, was killed and 10 others injured.

“Five persons, including the four suicide bombers died in the explosion.

“Four people sustained injury and (have been taken) to the hospital for treatment. The area has been rendered safe by EOD personnel at the scene.”

This recent killing brings the number of suicide bombing casualties in the state to 79 in the last one month, as the Nigerian military keeps informing that it is winning in its war against the insurgents.
