Lassa fever kills doctor in Nasarawa

A medical personnel in Dalhatu Specialist Hospital (DASH) Lafia, has been confirmed dead after treating a patient with Lassa Fever.

DASH is the only specialist hospital owned by the state.

A report by Vanguard says the death of the medical doctor, Ibrahim Oshafu bring the toll to two while others under close watch are hospitalized, mostly in Lafia,Oshafu, who was among the members of the rescue team in DASH, has since been buried according to Islamic injunction.

Meanwhile, DASH personnel have joined the ongoing strike by government workers in the state.

Dr. Edego Egba, chairman medical Advisory committee of the hospital, confirmed this to newsmen.

Organised Labour in Nasarawa have been on industrial action over non payment of salaries, half payment of salaries to local government workers and non payment of staff benefits.
