In the eastern part of Sokoto, a local government called Rabah has been the target of attacks for years. The region shared a border with the state's Bakura local government area. Abdullahi Zakari, a member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly who represents the region, claims that military bombardment occurred in three distinct locations, killing hundreds of bandits. He claimed that when the bandits were stopped, they were returning from their illegal activities. He stated that "they attacked about 17 villages, killed three people, and raped several animals." The military operation, according to Zakari, was the most successful one in recent memory. The manner in which they acted in response to our distress call—even mobilizing their fighter jet—is highly commendable. He stated, "We hope they will sustain the tempo because bandats have terrorized our people for years without being stopped." Our investigations revealed that the insurgents initially targeted Kware and Rabah villages before assaulting Rarah. Ibrahim Rarah, a Rarah resident, said that in one of the areas, they counted more than 16 mutilated bodies of the attackers. When contacted, DSP Sanusi Abubakar, the Public Relations Officer for the Police, stated that he had not been officially informed of the incident and promised to call back when fully informed.
