The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, has again affirmed the jurisdiction of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) to try the Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on 16-count charge bordering on assets declaration breaches before the Tribunal. It was gathered that all the four other members of the panel unanimously agreed with the lead judgment delivered by Justice Aboki, who resolved all the eight issues formulated for determination against Saraki. The court of appeal also held that the fact that the charges were initiated 13 years after the offences were allegedly committed was immaterial. The appellate court averred that Saraki’s appeal gave the impression that the Senate President was avoiding being tried at all cost. Consequently, the court ordered the appellant to return to the tribunal to answer to the case the federal government entered against him. Speaking further on the matter, Justice Aboki described the contention by the senate president as sentimental which the court had been enjoined not to delve into. This is the second time the appeal court would be delivering judgment on the same subject matter of jurisdiction of the CCT to try the Senate President.
