Posted by: Mr. Babatunde« on: August 28, 2017, 03:02:06 PM »A Civil Society group #OurMumuDonDo today commenced a protest march and sit out to demand for the extradition of the former Minister for Petroleum, Mrs. Diezani Allison-Madueke from the United Kingdom to face prosecution in Nigeria who is alleged to have looted the nation’s treasury. The protesters stormed the Headqaurters of Economic & Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Abuja to press home there demands for the anti graft agency to expidite action to bring the former minister to Nigeria and face trial . The group noted that failure to extradite her would amount to rubbing her back adding that what she is being accused of in the UK is a minor offence. Addressing journalists at the protest the leader of the group , Charles Oputa (Charly Boy) noted that the Nigerian youths have finally woke up from their slumber to be part of the discussion on war on corruption . He berated government and the EFCC for not doing enough in the anti corruption war particularly for not been able to convict anybody since the the commencement of the crusade. ” I am at the protest to encourage the Nigerian youths in asking questions and holding government accountable for promises that have been made. ” He admitted that corruption is killing the country and there is urgent need to salvage the situation before it degenerate. He noted. Also speaking at the sit out the Co-Convener, Mr. Deji Adeyanju noted that the group will not be silent on any corruption related allegation levelled against anybody irrespective of who is involved. He highlighted those cases are as follows; (1) Inspector General of Police ( IGP) was alleged to have collected N120,000 billion from oil companies and banks. (2) The pending case of against the suspended Secretary to the Government of Federation ( SGF) , Babachir Lawal. (3) The money that was found in Ikoyi apartments in Lagos. ( 4) Who owns the money found in the Kaduna airport ? Quote ” Real corruption charge should be instituted against her here and it is imperative that she must be tried in Nigeria . Also Nigeria Government should assist the British Government in whatever way to secure her extradition ” He explained Quote ” We are asking EFCC to stop waiting for the directive before they started investigating people. Once somebody is alleged of any financial misappropriation the commission should immediately swing into action ” He stated. The protesters vowed to mount pressure on the commission until the former minister of Petroleum is brought back into the country. Armed policemen were were stationed at the gate of the commission. Several court orders have given for the permanent forfeiture of many luxurious properties in several high brow areas across the country acquired by Mrs. Allison-Madueke to the Federal Government.
