The body of a Chinese security guard that was killed in a blast at the Chinese embassy in Somalia last Sunday, has arrived back in China.
29-year-old Zhang Nan’s body was sent back to his hometown in east China’s Shangdong province on Saturday night. He suffered severe injuries after Sunday’s attack and later died in hospital due to massive blood loss. He joined China’s armed police at the age of 18 and was deployed to Somalia in January.
The blast hit the Jazeera Hotel in Mogadishu, killing 15 people. The Chinese Embassy in Somalia is located in the hotel. In addition to Zhang, three other staffers also got injured.
