The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board will on July 14 hold its 2015 policy meeting to commence the process of this year’s admissions.

The meeting, which is sequel to the successful conduct of the 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination on Computer Based Test mode, usually comes up with the cut-off point for admission into different courses.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of JAMB, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, obtained this on Monday in Abuja said, the policy meeting defines the criteria for this year’s admission.

He said, “This meeting defines the criteria for the year’s admission. The cut-off point is arrived at after extensive deliberation by all stakeholders which include Vice-Chancellors of Universities, Provosts of Colleges of Education and Rectors of Polytechnics, Monotechnics, Innovative Enterprise Institutions and other stakeholders.

“The exercise is interesting because of the success witnessed with the first full-blown Computer Based Test. The exercise has proven that our education system still has some hope. Don’t forget that in any educational system, world over, the examination process makes the difference. The goal of national development through education becomes like a mirage if examination bodies get it wrong. And today the Board has gotten it right.”

According to him, JAMB’s CBT will also contribute largely to the crusade against corruption as the fight cannot succeed if examination malpractice continues to be in the educational system.

Benjamin said as leaders of tomorrow, the foundation determines their personality later in life, adding that the eradication of malpractice in examinations conducted by JAMB, and perhaps others, will go a long way in addressing later year’s societal challenges.
