Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has ordered the total lockdown of four of the local government areas of the state namely : Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West for seven days in the first instance.

The decision was the fallout of the meeting between the government and the stakeholders from the area.

The lockdown is expected to commence on Tuesday, July 7,and it will be for one week in the first instance.

However, if the compliance level is not encouraging, the governmentwill announce further extension.

1. As the total lockdown of Ilesa East, Ilesa West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West local government areas begin, the following roads will be blocked;. Osu- Akanran, Muslim Grammar School, Bolorunduro-Wesley, Ibodi, .Breweries, Iwara, Osu, Iperindo, Ijebujesa- Zenabab,  Osujela, and Idominasi.

2. These points will be taken over by security agents with effect from Tuesday July 7, 2020 for one week in the first instance.

3. Enforcement of the road closure will begin at 5am on Tuesday and last for 7 days. The State’s Task Force and Security Operatives have been mobilized and mandated to strictly enforce the  restrictions.

4. Only those on essential duties such as health, fire service, environmental officials, security personnel, power and water supply agencies, media and telecommunication officers will be allowed to move. 

5. All physical gatherings (including religious gathering, political gathering, etc.) and market operations within the axis are banned. Only pharmacies and neighbourhood shops will be allowed to serve the needs of residents in their immediate environment.

6.The government hereby re-emphasizes strict compliance with physical distancing, the use of face masks, and all other precautionary measures and established protocols of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

 7.The government is counting on residents of these areas to support the fight against the pandemic by strictly observing all guidelines set by the government to curtail the recent surge of in number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in that axis of the State.

8. The government of the State of Osun places premium on the lives and properties of its people and will therefore not hesitate to  take any decision necessary to protect its people from actual or potential threats.
