An Osun State Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo on Monday ordered the remand of Emmanuel Oluwaseun Adebisi, the leader of the second wave of ENDSARS protest which occurred on December 7, 2020.
Adebisi popularly known as captain who led the second wave of EndSARS protest in Osogbo, was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly impersonating the Nigerian Army and receiving accolades on that basis.
However, the DSS Prosecutor, Ben.O Nweke during his arraignment on Monday told the court that Adebisi allegedly making a false attestation in a document titled “Memorandum of Understanding”, Referenced Pcc/os/2020/6/2/7 through witnessing and signing in as “Captain Adebisi Emmanuel”.
The Prosecutor alleged that the accused paraded himself as captain Adebisi Emmanuel Oluwaseun to deceive officers of Osun State Public Complaint Commissions (Nigeria Ombudsman).
He further alleged Adebisi to have
dressed and appeared in the garb of the armed forces of Nigeria.
While explaining to the court that the accused committed the offence on June 19, 2020, he further revealed that the suspect was found in possession of accoutrements of the armed forces of Nigeria, at his residence located at the Ile-Idande Area,Ayekale Osogbo, on December 9, 2020.
He argued that the alleged offence contravened Section S. 467, S. 484, S.109 and S.428 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol.2, law of Osun state of Nigeria, 2002.
However, when the count charges were read to the suspect, he pleaded not guilty to the allegations slammed against him.
Defence Counsel, Barrister A.C Olaniyi, applied for his bail in the most liberal term.
Olaniyi, who assured the court that the suspect would not jump bail if granted, said the accused was ready to face his trial.
While ruling, the magistrate, F. I Omisade rejected the oral bail application made by the Counsel, ordering him to come forward with the formal bail application.
He , however, adjourned the case till December 21, 2020.
