Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Mrs Tina Samuel, Mrs Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe were paraded at Edo State Police headquarters by Kokumo. Three months after the brutal rape and murder of Vera Omozuwa, a 100-level student of the University of Benin, the Edo State Police Command on Wednesday paraded six suspects in connection with the crime.
Speaking with pressmen, Kokumo said autopsy revealed that Uwaila was raped. She died on May 31, 18 days after, at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. She was 23 years old.
The CP said, “The matter is of great concern to the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, who sent homicide experts to work with our policemen in Benin.
“What we are seeing today is a result of the efforts of the police to get at the root of the crime, and today, I announce to you that the perpetrators have been arrested.”

It was an emotional moment as the father of 22-year-old UNIBEN student, Uwa Omozuwa, who was raped and assassinated in Ikpoba Hill's Redeemed Christian Church of God, spoke for the first time since the tragic incident.
The mother of the dead woman was inconsolable. Uwadia, a 100 level student of the department of Microbiology, went to read inside the church on Wednesday, May 27 and was raped and murdered by yet to be identified persons.
In an interview with TVC news, Mr. Omozuwa said he was shocked when he saw the injuries on his daughter’s body.
When I saw the injury, I shed tears as a father. I never knew the injury was much” he said.
According to Mr Omozuwa, he has always been a traditionalist but was only recently, converted to the Christian faith by his daughter who persistently asked him to give his life to Christ. He says he will be going back to his former religion.
