The National Assembly, Abuja has been shutdown by security operatives.

The decision to shut the complex might not be unconnected with the preparations ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari’s anticipated visit to the National Assembly today to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to a joint assembly.

Meanwhile, Buhari is currently in the Gambia and it is not clear if he would be able to meet the scheduled 12pm appointment. 2017 budget presentation by President Buhari before a joint session of the National Assembly has been moved to 2pm. It was earlier scheduled to hold by 12 noon but was rescheduled because President Buhari is yet to return from Gambia where he went for an AU Assignment.

It was gathered that members of staff have been denied access and all other organisations rendering services within the complex have been shut out.

Long queues of vehicles and crowds of anxious people are noticed along the entry points at the time of this report.
