In a statement signed by its acting general secretary, Lumumba Okugbawa, PENGASSAN blamed the proposed strike on the Federal Government’s inability to honor their agreement contained in a May 12, 2016 communiqué. PENGASSAN had on June 19th condemned the sack of some of its workers in some oil corporations in Nigeria and had given the Federal government a 7-day ultimatum to intervene and failure to do so would result in a full scale strike action. The seven-day ultimatum lapsed on last Wednesday, June 27th.
