The National Association of Nigerian Students has berated the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari for having no solution to the lingering fuel scarcity across the country.

The Deputy Coordinator of NANS in the South West, Mr. Saheed Afolabi, told our correspondent on Friday that the unending fuel crisis had multiplied hardship being experienced by the majority of Nigerians especially the students.

He said, “Motorists now sleep at the NNPC stations, which are the only filling stations selling petrol at the approved price.  Those who are able to buy either sleep at the stations overnight or they spend many hours in queues.

“The President, who is also the minister of petroleum, has failed us. He has failed us because this is not what Nigerians deserve from this government. We are tired of excuses, they should make things work. There is no electricity supply, no petrol, how do they expect us to survive. Students are the worst hit and we cannot continue living this way.

“Students all over the country will occupy streets across the country from next week if there is no solution. We cannot continue to live this kind of life. They should stop taking us for fools, we will tackle them.”

The students’ union leader said rather than blaming the previous administration, Buhari’s administration should work hard and undo everything that had been done wrongly.

Meanwhile, the fuel situation in Osun State was worse on Friday as few filling stations which had fuel sold it for N200 per litre.

Transport fare and prices of foodstuff and other commodities skyrocketed as transport fare, which used to be N50 went up to between N100 and N150.

Our correspondent observed that commuters resorted to trekking long distances as a result of shortage of commercial vehicles.
