The Theater Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Maj.-General Yushau Abubakar, has said that the Boko Haram terrorists have been been degraded and weakened by the military after series of operations.

Leadership reports that Abubakar made this known while addressing troops of 114 Task Force Battalion in Betta, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno on Tuesday, November 10, 2015.

The Nigerian troops have reportedly degraded the insurgents in recent weeks
“Boko Haram terrorists have been degraded, you have seen them, they are not trained, you have seen their capability, for those you have captured you have seen what they look like.
“We have no time to waste, we must move forward by ending terrorism in the North East now,” the commander said.

Abubakar also that the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has expressed his delight with the work being done by the task force in recent times.

“The COAS is very much impressed by the successes recorded by you in the fight against Boko Haram.

“He has asked me to deliver his goodwill messages to you.
“Since I was appointed as the Theater Commander, the COAS had visited the state five times and for each of the visit, he spent at least three days which implies that this operation is very important.

“The onus is now left to us. We have to pay back by getting more committed to our task of crushing Boko Haram within the timeline.
“More importantly, we must wipe out Boko Haram terrorists so that the people can come back and live their normal lives.

“I want to assure you that there is no operational problem or logistic problem that is not known by the appropriate superior authority.

“We have lots of containers coming to Maiduguri and most of them had spare parts, ammunition and other logistic requirements for this operation.

“Gentlemen, let us take this operation at heart and finish the job once and for all.
“Let us finish this job as it is expected and then we face other jobs,” he explained.
Only yesterday, reports emerged that the Nigerian troops successfully destroyed more dens of the Islamist sect, as the COAS also asked the troops to give the insurgents a final push.
