The federal government is considering banning use of motorcycles popular called okada nationwide.
The Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, gave the hint on Thursday while addressing newsmen after a meeting of the National Security Council (NSC).
The meeting was presided over by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
Malami on Thursday noted that an investigation carried out showed that okada was used for mining activities across the country.
He added that banning the use of Okada would cut off sources of funds for terrorists and bandits.
Malami who was flanked by the Ministers of Interior and Police Affairs, Rauf Aregbesola and Mohammed Dingyadi, said the meeting focused on how to stop terrorist activities.
According to the minister, terrorists now generate funds through mining and ransom, while they use motorcycles for movement.
Malami speaking on whether the federal government would ban motorcycles and mining activities on Nigerians said the federal government would place national and public interests above individual interests.
