According to a report by Daily Post, the Kwara State Fire Brigade, on Sunday, saved a shopping complex located at Gari-Alimi Opposite Art and Culture Ilorin from being gutted by fire in the early hours of the day.

The DPO ‘B’ Division of Nigeria Police Force, Kwara State Command Ilorin, summoned the fire brigade to the scene of the fire about 05:35hrs Sunday, Spokesman of the brigade, Hassan Hakeem Adekunle, disclosed in a statement in Ilorin on Sunday.

He said firemen were, however, able to control the ravaging fire on time from consuming the whole shopping complex.

According to Hassan, out of 41 shops, only six in the shopping complex were affected.

He disclosed that the fire was caused as a result of an electric surge from one of the shops.

The Director, Kwara State Fire Service, Prince Falade John Olumuyiwa, has urged the general public not to hesitate to call the fire brigade on time whenever there is any fire emergency in their areas.

He said it will go a long way to save lives and properties of people in the state.
