The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa'ad Abubakar, has urged Muslims to start looking for the new moon of Ramadan Friday, May 27.

May 27 equivalent to Sha'aban 29, 1438AH should be the day to look for the new moon.

In a statement signed by the Chairman, Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Professor Sambo Junaidu, any sighting is to be reported to the nearest District or Village head for onward communication to the Sultan.
