The Osun Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria (OOMPAN) has condemned in totality alleged public assault of Osun State Broadcast Service (OSBC) reporter, Mr. Akinromade by the former Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Hon Adejare Bello.
In a Press Release signed by the PRO of OOMPAN, Bright Olorungbotemi, said the assault was an embarrassment to humanity.
Mr Bright said the former Speaker’s reaction to the journalist’s action was against the law and, therefore, unacceptable, dishonourable and barbaric.
The Charman of the association, Mr Jare Tiamiyu, in a statement, Friday declared the action of the Nigerian Ambassador as terribly disappointing to the land of virtue (Omoluabi) state.
As a lawyer holding a public office by representing Nigeria at the diaspora, Adejare Bello is very conversant with the watchdog role of the law.
“As association, we are more shocked that the same Bello who is an ambassador is at the same time attacking a journalist in the public space for controlling some defiant motorists who were trying to manipulate their ways against traffic rule.
This is indeed, terribly disappointing,” the OOMPAN Chairman said.
By denigrating the journalist, Bello has exposed himself the more as an intolerant and power abuser who has allowed political influence to withdraw his integrity from the media and general public.
“We hereby demand a retraction, public apology and provision of responsibility from him, Adejare Bello.”
