Chieshe had claimed in a statement that a snake sneaked into the accounts office of the examination body and made away with the cash. “She has been suspended and she is going through all other disciplinary procedures while investigation is ongoing on the matter. Her claim was that a snake came into the office and swallowed the N36m proceeds,” JAMB head of information Fabian Benjamin said. It was learned that a team of auditors was dispatched to different state offices of JAMB to take inventory of sold and unsold scratch cards. The JAMB boss, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, had recommend an end to the use of scratch cards. And the team was said to have been charged to recover whatever money that might have either been generated or mismanaged during the period of the sale of scratch cards. When the team visited the Makurdi office, Chieshe, a sales clerk, told the officials that she could not account for N36 million she made in previous years before the abolition of scratch cards. She, then, claimed that her accomplices confessed that they had been stealing the money “spiritually” through a mysterious snake that always sneaked into the office to swallow the money from a vault. In the meantime, reports say the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has begun investigation into the matter. Concise News
