Security agencies are working to ensure the safe release of Osun State Government officials who were abducted by some gunmen in Kogi State on Friday.
Sources told our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday that security agencies in Kogi State had swung into action to ensure the release of the Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Adebimpe Ogunlumade; Director, State Audit, Mr. Tajudeen Badejoko and their driver, Mr. Oladapo Arogundade.
A civil servant, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told our correspondent that the kidnappers had established contact with the families of their captives and the Osun State government.
He added that an undisclosed amount of money had been demanded, noting that the officials might be released soon.
Responding to the issue of ransom being demanded, the Head of Service in Osun State, Mr. Sunday Owoeye, said it was not true that the abductors had demanded ransom to free the abducted officials.
“Haba! Far from the truth,” Owoeye stated.
According to him, security agents have taken over the move to free the abducted officials and directed our correspondent to the governor’s media aide, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon.
The three officials were returning from Abuja when hoodlums accosted them between Obajana and Lokoja in Kogi State and whisked them away to an unknown destination.
