Posted by: Zahyan« on: April 28, 2024, 08:08:33 AM »![]() Acute fuel scarcity has hit Ilorin, the Kwara State capital. A survey by DAILY POST in Ilorin on Saturday showed that only few filling stations sold petrol to motorists. Consequently, long queues of vehicles have resurfaced in the state capital. The development is coming with outrageous arbitrary fuel pump prices by the few filling stations dispensing the product. The pump price per litre ranges between N625, to N650 by major marketers and N750, N800 to N1,000 by other marketers depending on the location. Customers outside the state capital are also forced to pay more as the pump price has reportedly risen to N1,000 and above. Commercial transporters have also increased transport fares as a result of the arbitrary increase in the pump price of petrol. Short distances, which hitherto attracted between N100 and N150 in the state capital, now cost N200 and above. Efforts by DAILY POST to reach officials of the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR, in Ilorin, were not fruitful as of the time of this report. Meanwhile, a manager of one of the stations told DAILY POST that there is shortage of supply by the NNPCL, the sole importer of the product. He said they were awaiting Dangote Refinery to begin distribution of petrol soon.
