The murdered security operatives comprised four soldiers and a policeman, with another policeman said to be missing.

The Acting Spokesman for the Nigerian Military, Col. Rabe Abubakar, said in a statement on Saturday that the incident was being investigated.

The gunmen were said to have attacked the JTF Base at Nembe Waterfront at 11.30pm on Friday.

The Defence Spokesman, who urged the members of the affected community to go about their normal duties, solicited for timely information to security agencies to avert such an ugly incident in the future.
