Nigerian Army on Friday threatened to demolish any facility hosting members of the Boko Haram terror group.

The threat was issued to check against recent suicide attacks in part of troubled Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.

Addressing a press conference in Maiduguri, the Theatre Commander of Operations, Lafiya Dole, a military operations established to put an end to Boko Haram insurgency in the North-East, Maj.-Gen. Yusha’u Abubakar, said any facility used to perpetuate terrorism would be demolished forthright with.

He warned that the military could not be deterred in the war against insurgency and since it had a timeline for the operation against the terrorist, no allowance would be given for failure or drawbacks.

“Any facilities that is used to make bombs or used to dress suicide bombers would be leveled,” he said.

The Army boss, who confirmed that 14 persons were killed and 39 others injured in Thursday’s attack on Sajeri area of Ajilari Cross in Maiduguri, asked every member of the society to be security conscious and report any suspicious or movement to security agencies.

He said the military would hold meetings with all stakeholders, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, market women and students to sensitise them on need to support the war against terrorism.

He said terrorists should be isolated in order to win the war, insisting that the public would pay a big role in this.

Meanwhile, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderemi Opadokun, has called on residents of the troubled Maiduguri to avoid large gathering which could be a major attraction to suicide bombers.

The CP, in a text message to journalists, said that residents should report any strange face or faces in their neighborhood to security agencies.

On the attack on Sajeri, Opadokun said, “There was IED explosion on October 1, 2015 at about 7.45pm in Sajeri area in Bulumkutu, Maiduguri, when four suspected suicide bombers detonated IEDs strapped on their bodies.”

He added that the explosion occurred at four different locations on the same axis and that the death toll had risen to 14 persons, including the suicide bombers.

Opadokun added that the injured were taken to University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and Umaru Shehu Hospital in the town.

He, however, advised law abiding citizens to report promptly to police or nearest security agency any suspicious person or movement.

Governor Kashim Shettima condemned the incessant bombings of innocent people and other soft targets of mosques, motor parks and markets in the state.

While sympathising with the family members of victims, he said, “As this Boko Haram madness was about to end, we will do everything to protect our people’s lives and property.

“I am urging all of you to be always security conscious by promptly reporting any suspicious movement to the military and all other security agencies, before this madness destroys all of us here in this state.”
