Earlier today it was reported that there was jubilation at the Port Harcourt command headquarters on Saturday as men of the Rivers State Police Command captured a most wanted armed robber and kidnapper popularly known as Bobisky.
Governor Nyesom Wike had previously put a N30 million bounty on Bobisky 's head, according to The PUNCH, saying that he would reward any member of the public who can provide valuable information that will lead to the arrest of the criminals.
In a sting operation led by Bori's Divisional Police Officer, Superintendent Bako Angbashim, Bobisky, whose real name is Honest Digbara, was arrested alive early Saturday at Korokoro in Tai Local government district.
He was said to attend a funeral when the place was raided by police officers and vigilantes acting on a tip but when he saw them, he opened fire leading to a gun fight that took his younger brother's life as his driver on the spot.
Bobisky, a terror to many residents in the state's Ogoni district, was connected to most of the area's reported criminal activities.
He had been paraded at the command headquarters on Mosco Lane, Port Harcourt.
He later died in the spot of multiple injuries from gunshot and machete wounds suffered during the crossfire.
Addressing journalists, the state police commissioner, Joseph Mukan, said, “He was arrested through credible information at Korokoro Community in Tai LGA where he was hibernating with his gang of killers.
“On sighting the police, they engaged us and in a return fire, his driver was fatally wounded, while he was arrested alive.”
Mukan warned criminal elements to “repent, relocate or face the full weight of the law”.
