The Nigerian Center for Disease Control, NCDC, has denied reports that it is giving N45,000 to Nigerians as COVID-19 relief funds.

The agency made this known in reaction to a message in circulation which says the it will give N45,000 to Nigerians as COVID-19 relief fund.

“You just won N45,000 from NCDC due to COVID19 pandemic in Nigeria call us on 09063756881 to claim,” the message read.

The agency has now denied the claim and described the message as false.

“Any message on relief funds being provided by NCDC is false. Please take responsibility and verify all information before sharing,” NCDC said.

This comes months after presidential aide, Femi Adesina, denied claims that the Federal Government wants to give Nigerians N30,000 through their Bank Verification Number, BVN.

“Fake news peddlers have concocted a statement, purportedly issued by me, saying FG will pay N30,000 to each Nigerian with BVN, to help them stock up before an impending national lockdown. Not me. The so-called statement is hereby disclaimed,” he tweeted.
