Waku, who pointed out the creation the Niger Delta Ministry and Niger Delta Development Commission for further development of the region, condemned the activities of the NDA. He said in an interview on Saturday that the attacks by the militants on oil and gas installations had led to further degradation of the environment and urged the Federal Government to treat them as criminals if caught. He said, “Agitations should have a clear vision rather than being criminal. It is only when the agitations are ignored that you can resort to any other mechanism to attract the Federal Government’s attention.” Also, Waku condemned the activities of the Movement For Actualisation of Soverign State of Biafra. He said, “If they are talking about creating their own sovereign state, the South-South states will not support them. They are taking us (middle Belt) for granted. “They have oil and they want to break out, but then then, we here in Middle Belt will hold onto our yams and food. After all, it is the money from our agricultural produce that they used to build those refineries. More o, oil is a perishable commodity. They have had enough.”
