The five troops kidnapped during the Boko Haram assault on the Borno Governor's convoy, Professor Zulum, were reportedly found slaughtered.

According to news, no less than 30 people, including 10 policemen and 4 soldiers, were reportedly killed in the attack on the Kauwa-Baga Cross Road in Borno State.

According to security sources, the rebels in the Armored Personnel Carrier, APC, captured the 5 deceased soldiers and later slaughtered them and dumped them in the forest, reports from The Vanguard.

The source reported that as more bodies, including the slaughtered soldiers, were found in a search and rescue operation, which was still underway at press time, the death toll from the attack continued to increase.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, September 27, Civilian JTF Commander Muazu Alhaji Misiya posted photographs of security operatives killed and injured in the attack.

In a statement by the Coordinator of Defense Media Operations, Major General John Enenche, however, the Nigerian Army maintained that only 18 security personnel were killed in the ambush at Barwati village along the Baga / Monguno road, including 10 policemen, four soldiers and four civilians.
