Press Statement by National Association of Osun State Students congratulating H.E Gboyega Oyetola over supreme court victory.
The supreme court is normally addressed as the last hope for common man and its verdict is final for any legal battle, this was further affirmed and proven yesterday while the supreme court uphold Governor Oyetola Adegboyega as the governor of the state over the legal battle that lasted for months.
On behalf of all Osun State students, home and in diaspora, we congratulate the executive Governor of Osun State H.E Governor Gboyega Oyetola for his well deserved victory at the supreme court. We considered the legal battle as a distraction to governance and we appreciate God Almighty for peace throughout the legal engagement.
Sir, your Victory at the supreme court signifies that the fundamental democratic principle of the judiciary has finally taken the lead in issues that concern electioneering in Nigeria.
The victory at the supreme court is not just about the governor himself, but it’s about the Osun state people, it’s about the perseverance of Osun people, its about the good conduct of the people to maintain peace and tranquility throughout the cause of the struggle, its about the wholehearted eagerness to remain united despite individual affiliations and sentiments.
After careful observations and grading of the performance of the present administration in terms of services for the students, it is glaring that the voice of the students and trust repose on the state government by the student has been put to dogs and this we shall take no more.
The students, as an importance factor during electioneering activities till date are still tantamount to “USED AND DUMPED”. The student deserves a voice that needs to be heard. The leadership of our dear association shall take it as a priority to checkmate all activities of the state government to ensure quality representation and involvement of the students in governance, in as much as the students showed recognized solidarity in the September 2018 elections.
Our believe and trust in the government of the day led by Governor Oyetola is undaunting as we believe in your administration and leadership skills.
Through this press statement, the leadership of National Association of Osun State Students hereby demands a reduction in the increased school fees imposed on our students throughout the state owned tertiary institution. This increase in school fees, we considered as inappropriate in relations to the services and facilities in our various schools.
We demand for improved students welfarism, bursary payment, scholarship, student empowerment, mobility, Prompt payment of workers and staff salaries and arrears.
As a proactive governor, we expect quick reactions to our demands, failure of which we shall not excitate to apply the last “C” of ALUTA when the first “2C” failed.
As we expect good governance and dividend of democracy delivery, we wish our governor a successful tenure. Congratulations
Signed:
Comr. Oderinwale Elisha Minister
