The panel of enquiry set up to investigate the events surrounding the violent clash between the Yoruba and Hausa community living in the Lagere area of Ile-Ife has concluded its findings.

The panel, mandated by the Osun state government, disclosed this on Friday via its secretary, Bisi Babalola.

He said the enquiry into the March 8 event threw up many petitions for help and compensation from those who lost property during the fatal altercation.

Speaking with journalists, Babalola said, “We received 406 memoranda and with the four we have taken today, we have treated 289. I can assure the public that the panel would soon make a recommendation to the government in due course.

“We started sitting on April 19 and we sat for 27 days. Many of those that submitted memoranda have refused to show up before the panel despite announcement and several invitations.”
