The clergy, who said he had just come back from a tour of some northern and southern states, added that he had spoken with some governors on the way forward in curbing religious crises. Kumuyi spoke during a special Sunday service held at the International Bible Training Centre, Ayobo, Lagos. The service was attended by Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom State. He said, “To start with, we need hope and once we have hope and we know that we are not going to stay where we are forever; then we begin to make the change within, and have a desire that here is where we are going. “Then how do we get there? The change begins with me, you and the people that have that desire or idea in mind. Then we take the first step, it could be a little step or baby step; and if we are focused, eventually we will get there, we will get to the place we know God wants us to get to, and Nigeria will become better.” In his remarks, Udom said state governments must be able to feed their citizens. The governor, who added that the country must prioritise agriculture, urged Nigerians to shun corruption. He said “There is no leadership that is not instituted by God for a purpose. But how sincere are we? Let us start with ourselves. A driver who collects N10,000 for fuel but pockets N2,000. There is no small or big corruption. I don’t know how many people know that lying is corruption. If you can lie, you can do any other thing. “But we have hope in God and in our country. We are beginning to have leaders who are prepared for leadership and I am one of them. As we make mistakes, we correct our mistakes and move forward, “ he said.
