A clash between Jigawa Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission, FRSC and members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, has left a bystander dead as it was gathered that an operative of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, who came as one of FRSC’s reinforcement reportedly killed the bystander and also shot a policeman. According to sources, the incident which happened in Dutse, the capital of Jigawa State, was sparked after an FRSC operational van was set ablaze by NURTW hoodlums, following the impounding of some of their vehicles for failure to install speed limiters. As soon as the Civil Defence officers arrived at the scene, they began beating everybody around. One of them started shooting despite the fact that the police asked him not to. He shot dead of the bystanders and a police sergeant,” said a witness.
