According to an eyewitness account, “two trailers belonging to BUA Industries and Dangote Nigeria Limited, rammed on three commercial vehicles, killing everyone on board”. The source said, “both trailers were trying to negotiate a bend coming from opposite direction in a steep but lost control, jamming all commercial vehicles in between them, killing all passengers except one ma whose voice is been heard groaning under the bus with the BUA truck on it” The drivers of both trucks were said to have come out of the mishap unhurt and escaped through the bush. As at the time of filing this report (3.50pm), the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other agencies were not on the scene of the accident to salvage situation. “A construction company had to deploy two cranes to lift the trailers off the commercial vehicles”, our source revealed. He, however, said officials of Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were at the spot, but without any equipment and facility to help situation, thereby, leaving villagers to use axes to remove the remains of the commercial buses. No official statement has been issued by the FRSC regarding the actual figure of casualties yet.
