Punch correspondent gathered that the truck which was traveling towards Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, hit the bridge, and the upper deck came crashing down, causing traffic hold up. A resident of the town, who identified himself as Temitope Jamiu told punch correspondent on the telephone that the incident happened in the evening around 7pm. Jamiu said, “A trailer hit the pedestrian bridge and brought part of it down. The trailer is still there up till now and I don’t think the driver would be allowed to move it away from there. I was told that officials of the Federal Ministry of Works have been informed and they will come and inspect the damage tomorrow.”
